Accountant I/II

The Office of the Auditor-Controller is seeking two Accountant's I/II to join their location in Riverside.
This posting may be used to fill future Accountant I/II positions within Auditor-Controller throughout Riverside County.
The level at which the position will be filled is at the Department's discretion and is based on candidate qualifications.
The selected candidates will report to Supervising Accountant in the Office of the Auditor-Controller, Reporting & Capital Assets Section, General Accounting Division.
Candidates will be responsible for analyzing complex accounting and financial data to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
As well as review detailed journal entries received by departments to ensure that proper accounting principles and standards have been followed.
Additionally, the candidates will be trained on reviewing, approving and posting transactions related to capital assets and helping with year-end reporting as needed.
The most competitive candidates should exhibit self-motivation, possess strong organizational skills, and demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks with tight and competing deadlines.
Additionally, it is highly advantageous for candidates to have proficiency in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of the PeopleSoft Financial Accounting System.
