San Bernardino County is recruiting for Supervising Accountants III who plan, train, assign and supervise a staff that includes professional accountants responsible for complex accounting work.
Duties include planning and organizing complex professional accounting assignments; interpreting, analyzing and evaluating new legislation and recommending courses of action; acting as a financial consultant to management in resolving various fiscal problems; and participating in administrative policy making decisions affecting department level fiscal operations.

Certified Public Accountant Stipend - $750 annual CPA stipend for employees who attain and maintain a valid CPA License.
COMPETITIVE SALARY & BENEFITSAnnual Salary Increases: 2% on February 2024 & 3% on February 2025 & 2026Bi-annual step increases of 2.
5% up to Step 14 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel throughout the County is required.
Employees will be required to make provisions for transportation and may be required to use personal vehicles (mileage reimbursement is available).
At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.
Background: Candidates selected for this position must pass a background investigation and medical examination including drug screening; candidates selected for law enforcement departments, public safety positions, or positions where legally required, must pass a more stringent background check.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES REQUIRED: EDUCATIONMust possess a completed/awarded Bachelor's degree in accounting OR Bachelor's degree in another field that includes 30 semester (45 quarter) units in accounting or business related coursework (e.
g.
, finance, computer science, organizational management, public or business administration).
Half of the units MUST be upper division.
Transcripts must be included with the application if the applicant does not have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or an active CPA license.
EXPERIENCE Must possess three (3) years of professional-level accounting or auditing experience that includes one (1) year of full-scope supervisory duties OR two (2) years of lead experience.
SUBSTITUTIONAn active California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license may substitute for the education requirements.
