Responsibilities will include providing a combination of administrative and clinical supervision to master’s level Marriage and Family Therapist interns, selection and placement of interns, and developing and maintaining relationships with local universities and Department of Behavioral Health programs.
Some travel will be required to provide on-site supervision to interns placed in clinics and programs throughout the County and to attend outreach events.
Responsibilities may also include providing program support to the Social Work and/or Psychology Intern Programs and providing clinical supervision and training to Psychiatric Residents.

The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is responsible for providing mental health and substance use disorder services to county residents who are experiencing major mental illness or substance abuse related issues.
DBH provides mental health and substance use disorder treatment services to all age groups, with a primary emphasis on treating children/youth who may be seriously emotionally disturbed, adults who are experiencing a serious and persistent mental illness, and individuals who are experiencing substance use disorders.
DBH also provides an array of outreach/engagement, prevention, and early intervention services.
DBH's core values are service, integrity, accountability, and trust.
DBH is a unique County Department comprised of six (6) service areas: Outpatient Clinics and Youth Services; Substance Use Disorder and Recovery Services; 24-Hour and Emergency Services; Forensic and Homeless Services; Administrative Services; and Program Support Services.
The Department currently has a workforce in excess of 1000 positions and an approximate $164 million-dollar annual budget.

Shifts: Some programs offer 24-hour services; some assignments may require employees to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required depending on assignment.
Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate is available).
At the time of hire, a valid California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Differential: Clinical therapists regularly assigned to work night/overnight hours or in detention facilities receive additional compensation.
Indicate your interest and availability for positions assigned to night/overnight or detention facilities on the supplemental questionnaire.
Qualifying Experience: Official commencement of job duties cannot begin until candidate possesses two (2) years of experience as a licensed therapist in a mental health or social service setting.
Contingent job offers may be made to candidates who are within three (3) months of completing two (2) years of the requisite experience as a licensed therapist.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Education: A completed Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy obtained from an accredited college or university.
Note: Qualifying degree or coursework must have been completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.
S.
must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
--AND-- Licensure: Must be licensed in California as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in good standing.
--AND-- Experience: Two (2) years, within the last five (5) years, of experience as a licensed therapist in a mental health or social service setting OR provided direct supervision to MFT Trainees, Associate MFTs, Associate Professional Clinical Counselors, or Associate Clinical Social Workers who perform psychotherapy; the application must clearly distinguish between pre-licensed and post-licensed experience.
