ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Experience in music, particularly in Mariachi.
At least six months of experience working with groups of 10 or more students in a classroom, after-school, or recreational setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with children of all ages and backgrounds.
Promptly meets and instructs assigned groups before and/or after school in the assigned location.
Maintains control, consistently handles own discipline during after-school rehearsals and performances.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the assigned location and the needs and capabilities of the students involved.
Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Attends all meetings and training required by Step-By-Step Folklorico.
Will perform other reasonable duties in support of mariachi activities as requested by their immediate supervisor.
Bilingual.
Embrace teamwork by collaborating with other instructors.
Pay Range: $20-$30 per hour DOE
Report to: Director of Dance Instruction
Status: Part-time, Non-exempt
Hours: M-F, between 12:00 p.
m.
– 6:00 p.
m.

Competencies Duties
Organizing and directing activities to meet the requirements.
Teaching music appreciation, harmony, and explorations in music.
Managing and maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.
Organizing rehearsal time effectively.
Controlling the storage and use of company-owned property.
Arranging for repair of instruments as needed.
Maintaining inventory records.
Evaluating student’s musical growth and performance.
Planning, rehearsing, and directing students in musical programs and performances.
Communicating effectively with students.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position requires supervision and instruction of children.
WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Considerable physical activity.
Requires some physical work; lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Travel:
Travel will be required; a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in music, particularly in Mariachi.
Demonstrated competency in one or more instruments; Trumpet, violin, vihuela, guitarron, guitar, harp.
Demonstrated competency in mariachi music.
At least six months of experience working with groups of students in a classroom, after-school, or recreational setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with children of all ages and backgrounds.
