We recently moved to Oak Hills.
Although we knew that the house was off a dirt road we didn't know that when it rains the road can become impassable, even with a fairly light rain.
Little ravines criss-cross all over the place and unless you have a 4-wheel drive truck there are numerous place that you "almost" can't get across.
And again, that was only with a light rain.
I can't even imagine what kind of hell awaits us with a real downpour!
Since we brought a tractor with us, after the last rain we thought it would be a simple matter of smoothing out the road again.
Unfortunately, it turned not to be so simple.
There's simply not enough dirt.
Even though, when transitioning from the closest paved road to the dirt one, there is a sign that states that the road is not maintained by the county I called them and asked if they would at least be willing to bring in some dirt and drop it off in piles and myself and the many other neighbors with tractors would take it from there.
As you guessed, it was a big no!
When I asked if it was okay to somehow get my own dirt and fill in the low spots they basically said, go ahead, knock yourself out!
So here I am looking for all the fill dirt I can get my hands on.
Ideally I'm looking for free dirt but I'm open to covering fuel and/or a reasonable delivery charge.
What makes this especially important is that I take care of my frail, elderly mother and I dread the possability of not being able to get out of here in an emergency.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
