The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an integral part of the health care team, providing care in an interdisciplinary team model including physicians, pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Behavioral Health providers, case managers, and substance use disorder counselors by assessing and planning care for homeless clients with mental health conditions.
The selected candidate will be expected to provide mental health care not only in an office/ clinic setting but will also be providing care for onsite recuperative care patients and be an integral part of the street medicine team providing care to unsheltered homeless patients.
*Responsibilities:*
* Focus on medication management with the option to practice psychotherapy
* Formulate initial diagnoses and create/continue treatment plans for children, adolescents, and adults with mental health disorders
* Obtain informed consent and provide medication management for patients
* Complete paperwork related to clinical progress of patients seen by the practice, including but not limited to disability forms
* Facilitate patient referrals to appropriate practitioners, health facilities, and community resources
* Keep up-to-date and accurate electronic medical records, including but not limited to accurate billing charges
* Train and work with other staff members to provide the best patient care possible
* Be willing to grow with the company by continuing ongoing psychiatric education
* Other duties as assigned
*Qualifications:*
* At the time of application have current and unrestricted NP licensure and NP furnishing license in the state of CA
* MUST have a current DEA that is valid in CA
* MUST have a current NPI number in your name (not corporate)
* MUST have not opted out of seeing MediCare patients
* MUST have no history of malpractice - We only contract with Board Certified providers with no hits on the National Database
* Be certified in psychiatry/mental health at the time of applying, or if a new graduate applicant, must be certified in psychiatry/mental health within 6 month of start date
* Familiarity with outpatient mental health care and commonly prescribed medication therapy (including controlled medications)
* Prescribe psychiatric medications to patients of all ages (including children, adolescents, and adults)
* Be comfortable evaluating new patients and devising diagnoses and treatment plan(s) with minimal supervision
* Be comfortable providing rotating primary care and mental health care as needed to recuperative care patients
* Highly desired: experience with underserved populations facing socioeconomic barriers to health care
* Preferred 3-5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner, ideally in a community health, or public health setting
* Current unrestricted driver's license
* Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional certification
* MUST pass a background check

Pay: $156,000.
