Global Dimensions is seeking a Welder for a position located in Barstow, CA.
Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Foreman or General Foreman.
Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities.
Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site.
Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts.
Installs structural parts, components, and assemblies in support of all construction and maintenance activities.
Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Actively participates in the KBR Zero Harm safety culture, absolutes and guidelines.
Performs other duties and activities as directed.
Requirements
US Citizenship
Typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.
Must be able to pass a 6G test if required.
Welder must use a variety of techniques, such as flat, vertical and horizontal welding to achieve a successful 6G weld.
Ability to work in a demanding, multi-task environment.
Ability to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Be able to pass Respirator Medical Questionnaire and wear an air purifying respirator (PAPR) or tight-fitting ½ or full-face respirator were it to become necessary, although respirators are not required.
Able to work overtime as needed.
Must be able to weld high alloy (stainless steel) and non-ferrous (aluminum and nickel alloys) base metals using the GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (WIRE/STICK) processes
Must have cutting experience of ferrous (carbon, low-alloy, and stainless steels) and non- ferrous (aluminum and nickel alloys) base metals using both the oxy acetylene, mixed gas and plasma arc processes
Must have experience in torch brazing
Additional Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted
Must be able to team lift up to 10 pounds in a two-person carry
Use crowbars, brooms, mops, sledgehammers and related items
Must be able to stand, stoop, crawl and climb as necessary to perform job functions using proper techniques and PPE for extended periods
Must be free of medical restriction/ limitations that prevent the performance of required duties and/ or prevent the wearing and utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Must be physically capable of performing the work in conditions of extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain and blowing sand and dust
Employees shall utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices associated with all lifting and material handling tasks that are assigned and associated with this job description
May be required to work on uncommon hours of duty, extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a military operator’s permit for each type of vehicle or equipment required to operate
Must be able to meet CMF criteria in accordance with DA PAM 611-21 and AR 750-10 and 601-210
