Researchers with the LLU Department of Psychology are conducting studies on sleep and behavior in youth between the ages of 3-21 with and without autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a schizophrenia spectrum disorder (SSD), compared to their typically developing peers.
The goal of this project is to better understand the similarities and differences in sleep quality across these three populations in terms of their behavior correlates.
Ultimately, this knowledge may help us to better understand how quality of sleep can be impacts the unique behavioral challenges experienced by each of these populations.
Who qualifies? Youth, ages 3-21, with suspected or a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorder, or typically developing with no history of psychiatric or neurodevelopment disorders.
What is involved? One lab visit (3 hours) where the youth with partake in assessments and parents will complete a variety of surveys about their participating family member.
Youth will be asked to wear a sleep watch for 14 nights, while caregiver will be asked to report on the youth's sleep patterns every morning.
