*Job Title: *Staff Accountant

*Job Description*
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join our team in Riverside, Southern California.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for handling daily accounting functions, including cost accounting and overseeing/assisting accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P).
Additional responsibilities will be monthly journal entries, preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, analysis of data, and other accounting duties.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
*Essential Functions:*
*Accounting:*
* Oversee and assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
* Maintain and reconcile fixed assets schedules.
* Prepare and process 1099's
* Prepare journal entries and assist with the month-end and reconciliation and closing process.
* Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations, identifying and rectifying errors.
* Prepare a variety of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
*Cost Accounting:*
* Analyze data related to manufacturing processes, inventory management, and overhead expenses to provide insights for decision-making and cost control measures.
* Collaborate with various departments to gather cost data, forecast future expenses, and establish cost targets.
Monitor and report on budget variances, highlighting areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
* Develop and implement cost allocation methodologies to accurately assign costs to products, projects, or departments.
* Maintain and update costing systems to ensure accurate and timely cost information.
Identify and implement improvements to streamline processes and enhance cost allocation accuracy.
* Monitor and analyze inventory levels, ensuring accurate valuation and minimizing carrying costs.
Collaborate with the procurement team to optimize inventory levels and identify opportunities for inventory reduction or obsolescence mitigation.
* Ensure compliance with accounting principles, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
*Qualifications:*
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
* 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with exposure to A/R, A/P, and cost accounting functions.
* Solid understanding of basic GAAP accounting principles and procedures.
* Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
* Must be detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Effective time management and organizational abilities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
* Ability to work with minimal guidance.

In Southern California, the salary range for a Staff Accountant typically falls between approximately $59,391 and $76,772 per year.
