Pay Rate: $26 - $28 hour
Role Purpose:
This position is responsible for reviewing, processing and identifying all payroll controls, operating procedures and performance management indexes.
Employee is responsible for facilitating and recommending solutions to problems relating to late processing of payroll documents resulting in incorrect payment of wages.
Work is performed as a part of a quality assurance program within Payroll to ensure consistent accuracy at a high level when calculating and entering time into the Time/Attendance Systems and prepare adjustments for entry into the Payroll Processing System.
Employee has the responsibility and authority to review prospective employee data, analyze and evaluate employee pay records with the personnel/payroll systems.
Reviews work for technical adequacy, compliance with policies and procedures and follow-up for corrective actions and problem solutions.
Employee also serves as one of the primary point of contacts with offices raising issues relating to pay discrepancies.
This position requires professional, technical, administrative, analytical and confidential work of a complex nature.
Core Competencies / Responsibilities
Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, checking/savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfer
Poll electronic time clocks (DCS time software) and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy
Process monthly union pension
Process involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments
Prepares special reports for senior management
Maintains payroll and related records recording the accumulation and use of vacations, PTO, sick days, and miscellaneous leaves of absence
Prepare requests for paycheck advances, and processing terminations
Contact various department supervisors for any missed times
Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests
Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
Maintains historical records by scanning and filing documents
Performs other duties and responsibilities or special projects as assigned or requested
Knowledge and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in payroll administration, project management, data analysis using manual and automated financial systems and quality assurance controls.
Or, an equivalent combination of post high school education and a minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in payroll administration, project management, data analysis using manual and automated financial systems and quality assurance controls.
