is changing how you ship cars as the only person that should talk about vehicle transport is a person that has done the work physically and has been on the road.
Most people just want a price.
They don’t want to know what it takes to ship their vehicle the right way, but doing things the wrong way can cause great financial harm should things go wrong.
Common sense says, when needing to ship a car you talk to a Car Hauler with a CDL, not a phone salesperson or digital marketing company.
This saves you time, money, and headache.
Anxiety and the need for fast answers are for many the fast solution, but things can go wrong very easily and get very costly, creating big headaches and financial loss.
There is a way to avoid that.
Deal with trucking companies that prioritize doing things the right way.
Licensed - The people you speak to are CDL licensed and have experience car hauling.
The only people qualified to speak on Car Hauling are Car Haulers.
Regardless, if you are speaking to a broker or a trucker, you must have their MC#.
It is your responsibility to check that their MC# is active and who they are bonded or insured through to guarantee you are protected.
The people saying that they aren’t brokers are often the biggest scam brokers.
Run their MC#.
You tell them if they are a broker and ask them for proof of the trucks they own, not someone else’s trucks.
Insured – For too long, scam brokers have been able to lie about insurance.
Brokers claim the truck's insurance is good enough, but that is a lie because trucks often have huge deductibles.
In addition, the trucker is supposed to give up his insurance in the event of damage but is supposed to be collected prior to dispatching of your vehicle.
If your vehicle is not additionally insured prior to picking up your vehicle, then there is a 95% chance your vehicle is not covered by insurance.
This should be addressed prior to the release of the vehicle.
The broker is supposed to have multiple insurances, but because the Federal Government does not require insurance, 99% of brokers do not have the insurances to protect the consumer and they lie that the truck's insurance is enough.
If you deal directly with trucking companies without a bond, you are 100% not covered by any insurances and will absorb 100% of the liability when things go wrong.
Real trucking companies are bonded with a brokerage that covers the consumer, they have Contingent Cargo Insurance, Umbrella, and Business Insurance.
Bonded – The Federal Government requires Trucking Companies that deal with the public to have a bond.
That does not mean that every Trucking Company has a bond.
In fact, most Trucking Companies do not.
The Brokerage Bond protects the driver guaranteeing payment.
The driver gives his insurance to cover the cargo with the promise of guaranteed payment.
The Broker is supposed to add your vehicle to the truck's insurance but when people only search price the company does not add your vehicle to the truck's insurance because you only focused on sales.
The biggest reason for the bond is if the driver damages property it is the responsibility of the brokerage, not the consumer.
Without the bond in place, your insurance on your vehicle will be sued for hiring the driver.
You are liable for damages equally with the trucking company.
That is why scam truckers want to work without a bond, but it is illegal.
The Federal Government, knowing the consumer is not familiar with trucking laws, requires the trucking company to have a bond in place to protect the consumer.
Want to know if a company has an active bond? Ask for their MC# or look for it in their ad.
You can also Google their company name; their MC# should pop up right away.
Search that number and their insurance and bond will pop up.
That will tell you if they are operating illegally or fraudulently.
The bond is public information.
If you Google their MC# and there isn’t a bond in the exact name advertised, then it is a scam company, and you are not protected.
Accredited – Because the Federal Government says they are understaffed, no one really regulates the Trucking Industry.
That is why so many companies can lie to you with no recourse.
The 2 places that hold Trucking Companies responsible right now are Google and BBB.
These 2 agencies have seen horrible scams in the trucking industry.
If a Trucking Company does not have a page on these 2 resources, then they sued Google or BBB to hide their reviews.
Do not trust Transport Reviews or any Transport Review Board.
These companies not only sell pages for Trucking Companies to create a fake image, but they also sell fake reviews to confuse the public.
Right now, people from India and other 3rd World Countries call Brokerages all day asking to sell fake reviews in 10, 20, and 30 clips.
You should notice their fake reviews if every review is 1 short, repeated sentence saying something basic or bad English.
These companies go to great lengths to seem like a quality company.
Though Google and BBB can be fooled with fake reviews occasionally, read through the reviews and use common sense.
No matter how good the advertisement looks, if they don't own trucks they shouldn't speak on the business.
That's how you avoid being charged additional fees, getting stuck last minute, or any of the handful of situations that can arise.
Scam Brokers depend on you thinking that they are your friend, so they add on fees when you are vulnerable.
If they tell you they don’t take a deposit upfront, it is because they don’t have access to trucks.
Should they not find a driver for the scam quote provided, they will have no connection or responsibility to you.
You want someone that when they say they will be there and on time that you can count on them.
