SHIFT: 8 Hour Shifts
POSITION SUMMARY
Childcare workers often help preschool-age children prepare for kindergarten.
Young children learn from playing, solving problems, questioning, and experimenting.
Childcare workers use play and other instructional techniques to help children’s development.
For example, they use storytelling and rhyming games to teach language and vocabulary.
They may help improve children’s social skills by having them work together to build something in a sandbox or teach math by having children count when building with blocks.
They may involve the children in creative activities, such as art, dance, and music.
This position requires additional activities of engaging families at the Family Health Center to promote the Mom & Dad Project classes, Reach Out and Read grant requirements and dental education pertaining to services offered through the Rural Health Clinic and possibly mobile unit once established.
Additionally, this position has a housekeeping component, ensuring that the facility is clean and germ-free allowing families to feel safe and cared for.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide structured childcare per Nurturing Families curriculum standards.
Supervise and monitor the safety of children in their care
Prepare meals and organize mealtimes and snacks for children and families.
Organize activities or implement a curriculum that allow children to learn about the world and explore interests
Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of Nurturing Families Community Educator/Case Manager.
Facilitation of outreach classes.
Distribute class calendars and flyers throughout the community to promote programs.
Organizing outreach events, including events, marketing, and classes, to promote the services of the organization.
Attend community meetings (Big Bear Collaborative, etc.
to promote news at events at The Mom & Dad Project
Help manage social media and website to increase education and awareness
Clean classroom and surrounding areas between classes
Sanitize toys and classroom weekly.
All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:
BLS Certification within 3 months of hire
Education Preferred:
High School Diploma or the equivalent
Education in Early Childhood Development
Minimum Experience Required:
None
Experience Preferred:
Working with children and families a plus
Group facilitation/ small group facilitation a plus
Skills:
Passion for working with children
Interest in child development
Flexibility for schedule
Self-motivated to establish successful program
