Job Summary: The Associate Dean-Academic Affairs (ADAA) is an academic and administrative officer who reports to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy.
The ADAA supports the mission, vision, and implementation of strategic plans of the University and School of Pharmacy.
The ADAA provides operational and administrative oversight for the School in areas related to academic and course planning and scheduling, registration, remediation, progression, curricular and programmatic development, including academic program innovation, assessment of student learning outcomes and continuous quality improvement efforts to ensure the academic excellence of the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
The ADAA oversees the performance, management, and review of personnel in the Office of Academic Affairs and works collaboratively with students, faculty, residents, staff, and other administrative leaders across the school, university, medical center, and pharmacotherapy clinic.
The ADAA supports the Dean in academic and curricular matters, and the preparation of accreditation and School- and University-level reports and projects.
The ADAA is expected to have a preclinical, clinical, or didactic teaching role consistent with their area of expertise.
Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Pharm.
D.
and/or PhD in the pharmaceutical or pharmacy administrative sciences is required.
Must be at the rank of associate or full professor within their current institution and demonstrate evidence of progressive administrative responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations (eg.
, Canvas, ExamSoft, CoreElms, PanOpto) in addition to University workflow platforms such as Banner.
Plan and execute new course and course change implementation, scheduling, and registration activities.
Interpret data derived from assessment tools.
Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner.
Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs including web-based new course and course change implementation, scheduling, and registration tools necessary to the position (e.
g.
, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
