POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through overall wellness development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The Pilates Reformer instructor role includes knowledge of utilizing the reformer apparatus, instructing participants on proper technique, understanding of human anatomy, and providing members with constant support and constructive feedback.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to instruct, lead, & modify exercise routines for a variety of fitness levels.
Ability to perform safe & effective exercise routines for a variety of fitness levels.
Ability to motivate & encourage members towards a healthy lifestyle.
Serves as a positive role model for members.
Maintains a supportive & positive environment for members.
Ability to communicate well.
Shows a genuine interest in developing positive, ongoing relationships with members.
Ability to engage members by learning about their Y Story and sharing the story of the YMCA.
Follows the YMCA personnel policies, practices, salary administration plan, emergency procedures and risk management procedures.
Assists with all other essential tasks as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS: Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Obtain AED and O2 certifications within 30 days of hire.
Experience participating in group exercise classes.
A basic knowledge of health & fitness; with an emphasis in human anatomy and physiology.
Experience teaching group class of all levels at least 1 Year.
Must obtain a current Pilates Reformer certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must be able to perform a variety of physical movements including bending, stepping, cycling, pushing, pulling, stretching, and/ or holding specific positions based on the specific style of group exercise class they are assigned to teach.
The employee must be able to lift weights ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 45 lbs.
The employee must be able to set-up weight &/or aerobic equipment for their specific class they are assigned to teach.
