JOB SUMMARY Candidates should have general expertise in Public Health and specific expertise in Health Services Administration and/or Health Care Management to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Health Services Administration as well as Public Health.
The Health Services Administration Program is designed to prepare our diverse student body for management roles in health care settings to enhance the quality and innovation in the delivery of health care services for all individuals.
The Department serves approximately 800 students majoring in 4 undergraduate programs (environmental health science, health services administration, nutritional science and dietetics, and public health) and 3 graduate programs (Master of Public Health, Master of Science in Health Service Administration, and Master of Science in Nutritional Science).
The newly hired faculty member would join a well-established department of 14 tenure-track and over 20 adjunct faculty members.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in health services administration, public health, and health science.
The successful candidate will be expected to advise undergraduate students and to supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects and theses.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, to develop an externally funded and published research program involving student participation, and to participate in service activities on and off campus.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A doctorate (e.
g.
PhD, DrPH, DHA, DSc) in Public Health, Health Services Administration, Health Care Management, Business Administration or a related field is required by time of appointment.
Ideal candidates will (1) demonstrate a commitment to working with underrepresented groups, (2) demonstrate a commitment to high-quality university-level teaching, and (3) have a well-defined, active research agenda.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS While not required, preferred qualifications include university-level teaching experience and a research publication record.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
