Position Summary:
The Operations Assistant will participate in the overall operation and support of the Edward-Dean Museum under the direction of the Events & Operations Coordinator.
Duties include participation in the Museum's exhibits and collections, along with event planning & logistics, operation of the Museum store, and outreach support for the Museum's programming and exhibits.
The ideal candidate will be adept at supporting Museum activities, exhibits and outreach along with promoting crossover opportunities for the Edward-Dean Museum and Library communities; also a desire to provide the highest quality customer service.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
Assists all guests on-site as the first staff impression of Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens
Supports the Events & Operations Coordinator in communicating and coordinating with clients booking the site.
Creates graphics, marketing concepts for printed material and digital promotions
Considers applying new trends, events, processes, vendors, services, rental inclusions, and other items to consistently progress our profile and offering while maintaining our requirement of high-quality service and professionalism
Meaningful support in:
Conducting and coordinating museum, site/wedding, and school tours
Performing opening and closing procedures for the museum and site
Aiding a museum workshop, presentation, and event
Contributing to a thinktank for site and exhibit marketing and social media promotions
Rearranging the gallery, maintaining the schedule for cleanliness of the museum to include dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and disinfecting
Serve clients booking the site, Friends of the Museum, volunteers, customers, vendors, and all guests on the site; this includes directing guests to the proper available staff for assistance
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
BA/BS Required, preferably in History, Art, Art History, Fine Arts or a related field
Multi-lingual speaking considered a plus
Broad familiarity and experience with customer service, outreach programs, computer systems, and social media networks
Strong interpersonal skills with both the public and Museum staff
Successful candidate will exhibit effective listening and problem-solving skills, along with good planning and organizational skills
Requires attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team environment and to think creatively, often within short timeframes
Candidate will embrace change and have the ability to strategize; relate to individuals of all ages and backgrounds; and assist patrons with flexibility, patience, and respect
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds.
