United Christian Academy is seeking a Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coach for the 2023-2024 season and beyond.
The candidate should have a worldview and vision for athletics in-line with the school’s mission and vision statement.
We are seeking a coach who is excited to grow and build the program, is excellent in planning and organizing a season with purpose, and has a strong understanding of the sport and ability to teach and strategize with professionalism and maturity.
General Description: The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in the design and implementation for the Boy's Basketball program.
The assistant coach is responsible for following the guidance of the head coach in teaching student-athletes competitive techniques to prepare them for events and competitions.
The assistant coach will assist in motivating student -athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
Reports to: Reports directly to, and collaborates with, the High School Head Boys Basketball Coach to build a school wide program philosophy for the sport.
Grade Levels: 9th – 12th Grade Work Schedule: 10 – 20 hours per week from October through March.
Must arrive on campus by 3:00 pm for practices.
Game days/times may vary.
Position Classification: 1099 Contractor Pay Classification: Stipend ($1,524 - $2,033 per season commensurate with experience) Minimum Qualifications & Training: Must be a born-again Christian.
Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.
Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
Must have good verbal,written and interpersonal communication skills.
Able to work well independently and in teams, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
Ability to work efficiently and quickly under pressure.

High School Diploma Demonstrates intermediate and higher knowledge of basketball rules and fundamentals.
Minimum 2 years previous coaching experience at the High School or higher level preferred.
Can substitute collegiate or higher playing experience for coaching experience.
Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
Self motivation, creativity, and the ability to deliver constructive criticism.
Successful completion of NFHS “Fundamental of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses First Aid/CPR Certificate.
TB clearance within the last four years.
Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
Mandated Reporter Training Course Sexual Harassment Training Course Part 1: Personal and Spiritual Responsibilities 1.

2 Will work with, and directly under the supervision of the Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach to maintain program growth, consistency, and community.

3 Follows the Head Coach's vision, philosophy, and strategies.

4 Assists in practice/game planning, strategy, and management.

5 Assess student-athlete's skills, identify areas of deficiency, teach various drills and techniques to improve deficiencies, and assign team positions; chooses team members.

6 Provides appropriate, constructive feedback to student-athlete’s 2.
7 Evaluates and maintains cleanliness and safety of practice and game facilities 2.
8 Assists in effectively communicating schedules and schedule changes to student-athletes, families, coaches, and administrators 2.
9 At the Head Coach's discretion, review and break down film and practice video, monitor locker room areas, attend team meetings and events, travel with team to away games, and assist in maintaining proper uniform/equipment inventory.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment includes indoor and outdoor environments, including football field, grass areas and gym.
Shared space may be required; moderate to high noise levels commensurate to a gym/outdoor/playground environment.
