The City of Riverside’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is actively seeking LIFEGUARD/INSTRUCTORS for the 2024 pool season that connects with residents in each community across the city and highlights safety at its facilities.
This is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position working under the direction of the Aquatics Program.
The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
SPECIAL NOTE: Candidates must be lifeguard certified.
Those who are not already lifeguard certified will be required to obtain the required Lifeguard Certifications listed in the qualifications below before their hire date.

Work Performed
Under supervision, LIFEGUARD/INSTRUCTORS perform responsible and technical work in the protection of life, the enforcement of safety rules and regulations, maintain facilities, attend all in-service events, effectively communicate with other lifeguards and management, and the provision of swimming instructions at a public swimming pool; and do related work as required.

Qualifications
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the ninth grade.
Experience: No experience required for entry level.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Minimum age sixteen years.
Possession of a Water Safety Instructor's Certificate required at Step 2 and Step 3.
(WSI certification opportunity available post onboarding)
Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate (which includes first aid) before hire date.
Possession of a current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer Certificate or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate before hire date.
