The firm presently has an immediate opening in its Riverside office for an experienced legal assistant.

The candidate will manage an immigration law caseload.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
* Analyze case documents and prepare immigration applications for filing including family-based petitions (I-130, I-485, I-601, I-601a, Counselor Process), citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
* Contact clients and other parties to update all parties regarding legal matters; notate all communication in the firm's case management program.
* Schedule appointments using the office calendar; send out regular reminders, and gather outstanding correspondence.
* Prepare, request, verify, gather, sort, and translate all documentation for each assigned case.
* Meet with clients, gather personal statements, and write detailed declarations for each case, if applicable.
* Manage full file process: gather all documents, prepare and file basic legal documents, organize and maintain hard paper files in order and ensure the integrity of all original documents, gather fees, and ensure file is completed, finalized, and mailed to USCIS.
* Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research.
*OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS*
* Proactively provide exceptional customer service and support to clients, internal staff, and other third parties.
* Use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) to manage files electronically.
* Use case management software to record all case activities and manage files.
* Keep up with immigration laws, legal procedures and protocols, court system, USCIS, DOS, and NVC changes.
* Monitor and self-assess personal performance and make improvements or take corrective action.
* Care for office equipment, such as computer, printer, shredder, and phone system.

*QUALIFICATIONS*
* Associate degree or equivalent education.
* *(2) to (4) years of progressive experience in immigration law.

* *The candidate is required to understand the applicable rules and regulations on a case.
This is not a data entry position.

* Excellent fluency in speaking, reading, and writing both English and Spanish and a solid understanding of cultural nuances of the Spanish language when translating written material.
* Ability to observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
* High level of learning agility committed to professional growth.
* Must be punctual and dependable with work schedule.
* Have a drivers license and reliable transportation.
