Job Summary:
The Operations Supervisor is a key support for the day to day operations of the Chrysalis Roads transitional job
program.
Working closely with Crew Supervisors, the Operations Supervisor will supervise, direct, and work
hands on with crews assigned to California State Highways/Right of Ways at the direction of local Caltrans
maintenance personnel.
This position has an operations role (supporting Crew Supervisors, coordinating
coverage for Crew Supervisors, quality assurance across sites, supporting operational logistics, etc.
) to meet
business objectives, as well as a programmatic role (providing feedback to and mentoring Crew Supervisors and
workers, developing and delivering training) to meet programmatic objectives.
The primary goal of the
Operations Supervisor is to support Roads’ maintenance Crew Supervisors at the worksite and ensure that work
quality meets or exceeds Chrysalis’ standards.
Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Operational Effectiveness:
Work closely with the Regional Manager and Crew Supervisors to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Roads program and, as needed, Chrysalis’ other programs
Provide shift coverage at customer sites for Crew Supervisors
Conduct behind the wheel driving tests with driver candidates and additional behind the wheel training, as needed
Source and acquire supplies from local vendors as needed to meet the region’s operational needs
Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner including, but not limited to, site inspection forms and credit card expense reports
Provide support on an as needed basis for fleet maintenance issues
Ensure all customer interactions are handled with tact and diplomacy, working closely with the Regional Manager
Conduct routine and reasonable suspicion drug testing in accordance with Chrysalis’ drug policy
Maintenance Crew Supervisor Support and Guidance:
Support Crew Supervisors via coaching, modeling, and guidance.
Work closely with the Regional Manager to provide appropriate, timely and meaningful feedback, advice and mentorship to maintenance Crew Supervisors
Develop & Deliver Work-Related Trainings:
Conduct a range of job related training modules for supervisors and crew members at the worksite and in the office, such as responding to feedback, dealing with difficult situations, safety, the importance of taking initiative, and appropriate conversations for the workplace
Develop content for quarterly Leadership Team Meetings, with the support of the Regional Manager
Overall Quality Assurance for Contracts:
Perform site visits and inspections of crew assignments with regularity to ensure work quality
Develop a plan to address service or safety issues at the worksite with the support of the Regional Manager
In conjunction with Regional Manager, assess current worksite safety protocols and practices, enhance existing training/procedures and provide feedback from the worksite to help develop new protocols as needed to improve performance and best practices.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Have a valid Class C California driver’s license and the ability to qualify for Chrysalis Enterprises’ insurance coverage
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Strong leadership and communication skills and evidence of a strong work history
Willingness and desire to mentor Chrysalis clients and support the Chrysalis Enterprises transitional jobs program
Ability to pick up, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
and work on their feet throughout shift
Work in or outdoors, standing and walking, for long periods of time (up to full shift) in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.
)
Excellent organization and time management skills
Ability to work independently, balance worksite and office requirements, manage projects, meet deadlines and coordinate well with others
Bilingual English/Spanish, a plus
