Charge Nurse Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the nursing staff
- Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning
- Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing
- Provide care for children, including toddlers, as needed
- Assist with family planning and education
- Assist with cardiac catheterization procedures
- Maintain aseptic technique during procedures such as suturing
- Ensure accurate coding of medical records
- Lift and move patients as needed
Qualifications:
- Active nursing license in the state of practice
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting, with experience in pediatrics preferred
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team effectively
- Knowledge of discharge planning and patient care coordination
- Familiarity with cardiac catheterization procedures and aseptic technique
- Ability to collect and process specimens for laboratory testing
- Familiarity with medical coding practices and regulations
- Ability to lift and move patients as needed
