THE PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE: We are seeking to appoint a Research Technician (Digital Printing Operator) to safely and effectively operate, program, set up and maintain our Inkjet Printers and associated ink QC equipment.
You will be responsible for utilising the machines capability and support the prototyping needs of digitally printed materials.
You will also be responsible for ensuring the housekeeping, hygiene, equipment safety and protocols are upheld and conduct any regular maintenance / upkeep required.
You will make recommendations, troubleshoot errors and malfunctions to ensure the excellence of our products are in line with business needs.
In addition to working with digital printing equipment, the research technician will conduct testing and other activities to support and ensure efficient lab operations.

What You’ll Do: Plan and execute all digital printing prototyping work to support product and technical development work.
Conduct basic image editing and manipulation to achieve desired images and quality Program and safely operate printer for required trials in conjunction with research scientists and engineers.
Observe machine operations to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments required to maintain successful operation Perform regularly scheduled maintenance of equipment Produce thorough, accurate and detailed records of samples, settings and images.
Participate in other technician work as directed including prototyping, testing and general duties.
Support the analytical labs by assisting with sample preparation, testing, basic data analysis, reports summary, and ensuring timely completion of test requests.
Follow and document tests methods and equipment operating procedure.
Perform basic lab equipment maintenance and repair following manufacturer’s standard operating procedures Ensure safe work practices are followed in line with regulations and standards.
Report any incidents, hazards, near misses or “at-risk” behaviors in a timely fashion Comply with any reasonable request related to health and safety including attending health and safety related training, participating in health and safety initiatives / activities and ensuring that either your acts or omissions do not place any person at risk.
What You’ll Bring: A self-starter who takes pride and accountability for work Hands on ability and aptitude High attention to detail and commitment to quality Problem-solving abilities Experience in documentation using Microsoft office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Demonstrated knowledge on operation of commercial scale inkjet printing equipment such as single pass digital printers (required) Knowledge of inks and ink QC tests (preferred) Demonstrated knowledge and experience with handling chemicals in a safe manner following best practices and SDS guidance.
A degree or trade qualification in relevant industry (preferred) Forklift License (preferred) Experience Operating Manufacturing Format Digital Printers in industrial or laboratory environment At least 5 years’ experience working in related industry, manufacturing, signage, print, etc.
