We are a union General Contractor who has been serving Southern California for 45 years and is family owned.
We do public works and some private commercial projects.
As well as being a General Contractor, we have two additional subcontractor divisions.
Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking for an opportunity to reach a new level of success? We currently need a Project Engineer with great project management, team building and relationship building skills.
The Project Engineer is in charge of assisting with the all aspects of a construction project alongside Estimator and Project Managers.
This involves overseeing contract activities on several projects, such as communication with the owner and architect, submittals, RFI's, procurement, budgeting and schedule.
A qualified candidate will be able to look at and understand the construction sequence, the critical path schedule and be able to harmonize and understand the schedule of other trades.
To be successful in this role, a high level of organization will be necessary as our environment is a fast-paced one.
The Project Engineer acts as the central point for communication, documentation and coordination for the Project Management and Business Services Departments.
Requirements
* Five (5)+ years industry experience
* 100% Proficient knowledge of ALL Microsoft Office applications like Outlook, Email, Projects
* Able to process over 80 plus emails a day
* Editing PDF documents using software (BlueBeam & PlanGrid)
* Experience with State/Public Works or Commercial Background is a plus
* Project scheduling experience a plus
* Excellent communication skills
* Able to speak and write in English proficiently and communicate clearly
* Outstanding organizational skills.
* Stable employment history
* Demonstrated leadership and project successes are expected
* Good Driving Record, no DUI's in last 5 years - Using a company vehicle to deliver bids

Key responsibilities of the Project Engineer include, but are not limited to:
* Maintaining & organizing plans through PlanGrid
* Client interactions, mostly phone, sometimes cold-calling (need to be comfortable and sound confident on the phone)
* Participate in pre-award activities for contractual requirements
* Process post-bid processes including LOI’s Contracts, Schedules of Values and releases
* RFI & ASI documentation supporting cost impact in contract time
* Monetary & time-related change order processing, oversite and follow-up
* Submittal processing and coordinating actions of internal procurement
* Prepare in-house documentation and reporting for the company safety program (IIPP) and administer in conjunction with an outside safety compliance contractor
* Daily and weekly schedule updates
* Daily, weekly and monthly status reports for internal stakeholders
* Periodic status reporting to customers and external stakeholders
* Project cost/budget tracking
* Managing change order requests and change orders
* Project specific purchase order processing
* Coordinate with local and out of state vendors for on-time and on budget project completion
* Coordinating with cross-functional teams from Sales, Design, Fabrication and Installation
* Helping Project Managers with permit processing, including coordination with cities and counties where needed.
* Risks, issues and red flag logs and reporting
* On-Time contractual submittal processing
* Prepare kick-off meeting packs for new projects
* Flow-down of contractual requirements and construction schedules
* Preparing change logs and schedules of value
* Any other tasks needed to support project management or the business
* Utilize Workflow Management System to align production planning with project schedule milestones
* Project closeout documentation
