Purpose Under direct supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction; maintenance and repair of water distribution systems and related facilities.
Answers public inquiries and complaints in a considerate and courteous manner.
Assist Operator III as directed.
Accountabilities Accountabilities Ability to read a meter accurately Performs leak repairs, maintains mains, fire hydrants, installation of new services, setting meters, changing out meters, and repairs services Keeps the direct Supervisor aware of all field customer service problems and needs Uses PC tablets for field service applications to process service orders Performs minor service repairs Works delinquent disconnects and reconnects as assigned Resets meters as needed or instructed Assists in the replacement of meters and registers, preparation and completion of service orders, along with other paperwork Operates various hand and power tools and mechanical equipment while installing, operating, and repairing mains, services, meters, valves, and fire hydrants Helps install, tap, re-line, disinfect, test, and connect water mains and appurtenances Repairs, disinfects, and tests broken water mains Assists in setting up work area traffic controls Assists in making field and job-related decisions using Company policies and procedures Reports and communicates to his or her supervisor all daily activities, needed repairs, hazards, challenges, needs Follows all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor, EHS Manager, and/or Human Resources Maintains and accounts for all tools and equipment and assigned vehicles Responsible for keeping crew truck clean and orderly Attends and participates in weekly safety meetings Performs all work safely and in compliance with Liberty Utilities Water safety program Performs various other duties as may be assigned by the Operations Managers or Distribution Supervisor or, the on duty Operator III Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Must have a valid California driver’s license, clean driving record Class A driver’s license desired (location specific) Must possess a Grade 1 Water Distribution Certificate issued by the SWRCB DDW.
T1 Treatment Certificate is desirable Be able to gain proficiency in basic construction and maintenance methods and procedures of a water utility, comprehend the use and functions of the (C.
I.
S.
) Customer Information System Program Able to work independently and responsibly with direct supervision Must have basic computer skills, including PC Windows operations knowledge and experience with communication devices Able to follow Company rules, procedures, and directions from a supervisor and/or Management Maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work This includes, but is not limited to, those to whom the position reports to, supervisors, coworkers, public, vendors, contractors Exercise independent judgment, discretion, professionalism, and tact in all areas of work including matters of a sensitive and/or confidential manner Must maintain a professional appearance as a front-line representative of the Company Occasional travel required Perform a wide range of physically strenuous tasks Acquire CPR and First Aid training Be available for standby, holidays, weekends, and/or overtime as required A person in this position must have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers, under normal and adverse conditions Compensation $19.
