Job Summary:
The Outside Plant Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing external telecommunications infrastructure at Fort Irwin.
The role requires technical proficiency, a strong understanding of telecommunications systems, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair outside plant telecommunications infrastructure including cables, conduits, and poles.
Perform routine inspections of outside plant infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and identify any issues.
Respond to and resolve telecommunications outages and disruptions in a timely manner.
Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to coordinate outside plant projects.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing work duties.
Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and repairs.
Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in telecommunications infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Active DoD Secret clearance is required for consideration.
High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical or Vocational training in telecommunications is preferred.
Relevant certifications as per DoD 8570.
01-M guidelines (e.
g.
, CompTIA Security , CCNA Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP) required.
Proven experience as an Outside Plant Technician or similar role in telecommunications.
Familiarity with telecommunications systems, equipment, and safety protocols.
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
