Sales Engineers are responsible for establishing and maintaining long-term customer relationships by developing business through travel and providing outstanding customer service.
Employees in this position sell goods where technical knowledge is required in such areas as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, stress analysis, ASME codes, and instrumentation, and will have obtained a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering (BSME) Degree or have a history of relevant work experience.
Direct experience in the engineering and design of piping systems, is essential to this role.
Knowledge of the Company’s products and capabilities are very important as well as the knowledge of products, capabilities, and safety in all we do.
Required Technical Experience Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a piping design Ability to analyze thermal contraction of a piping system and design for adequate flexibility Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs Familiar with codes of construction for piping and pressure vessels Ability to read and decipher industry and codes regulations Essential Duties and Responsibilities Illustrate and embody the Company’s Mission, Vision and Values: Genuine Care & Concern, Helpfulness, & Integrity Make it easy for the customer Enjoy the job, have fun and love to win! Love the sale, sales negotiation, and navigation of complex sales situations Meet or exceed sales targets in the aerospace market segment Contact new or existing customers to discuss how specific products or services can meet their needs Be able to teach customer engineers or field installation crews the steps to install vacuum insulated piping systems Knowledge of the overall process to fabricate vacuum insulated piping and the ability to communicate that to the customer Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers’ needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations Prepare and deliver sales presentations, product demonstrations, and explain product specifications or applications custom tailored to each customer’s needs Compute customer’s installation or production costs and estimate savings for new services, products, or equipment Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions Negotiate prices, terms of sales, service agreements and costs Maintain constant communication with key stakeholders, internal & external, while in and out of the office Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, or credit terms Select or assist customers in selecting products based on customer needs, product specifications, applicable regulations, and safety Cultivate customer relationships and create customer loyalty and determine how we can meet their needs Rapid response time / exceed customer expectations Support company policies, processes, and procedures Manage sales funnel and report out on timing and likelihood of opportunities Travel up to 75% of the time including trade show/expos, lunch and learns, site walks, and other business necessary sales travel Work with CAD department and engineering to ensure system readiness prior to manufacturing Sketch, draw, and design proposed systems with all necessary components, safety requirements and details Provide seamless project management through proper turnover (delegation), as required Verify and coordinate delivery/installation schedules to meet project deadlines Attend industry events to develop professional knowledge Using calculators, laser tape measures, levelling equipment, drafting scale, triangles, templates, French curve, compass & sketchpads Resource Management Skills Managing one’s own time and the time of others Determining how money will be spent to get the work done, and accounting for these expenditures Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work Social Skills Ability to build strong relationships with new contacts Persuading others to change their minds or behavior Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do Actively looking for ways to help people Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions
