The Senior Asphalt Laboratory Technician will have strong initiative and be able to perform routine complex inspections.
They will perform testing procedures in the field and laboratory for verification of compliance to plans and specifications.
Duties will include but are not limited to, performing laboratory tests on soils, concrete, asphalt in compliance with various test methods, logging and reporting findings, maintaining documentation of data, and providing laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration when needed.
The Laboratory Technician will communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, and others as applicable regarding the project requirements and test results.
PRIMARY JOB TASKS: (Essential Duties)
Perform Laboratory tests on soils, concrete, construction materials, and asphalt to conform with Caltrans, ASTM, AASHTO test methods, and State procedures.
Effectively communicate test results to office and field personnel as well as client contacts.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Provide detailed reports and data from test results.
Ensure all samples are accurately logged.
Provide laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration.
Document and implement test process.
Sample inventory management.
Documentation and data maintenance
Perform field inspection, testing and sampling as needed.
Pick up soil and concrete samples from various project sites.
