Business Intelligence Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY The Business Intelligence Engineer will be responsible for implementing database driven solutions using SQL, create complex queries, and develop business solutions.
The successful candidate will ensure the performance, security, and availability of databases, create program views, functions, and stored procedures as well as develop SQL queries, custom reports, and modify existing objects.
The Business Intelligence Data Analyst Engineer combines business knowledge, technical expertise, and data analysis skills to help companies make informed decisions.
The role involves collecting analyzing, and interpreting structuring large amounts of data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can conform business strategies.
This role is a key player in helping businesses make data-driven decisions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS SQL Development Reporting & Analytics Project Management Data Governance Documentation Business Intelligence Design Process Development Production Support PRINCIPAL TASKS Data Collection: Actively participate in the Data Warehouse development lifecycle; including but not limited to gathering and understanding of requirements, data and ETL design/mapping from various sources using ETL tools like Informatica/Azure Data Factory pipeline, and SQL Server database development.
Responsible for debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting BI solutions during work hours and production failures at night.
Document designs, specifications, and flow diagrams to assist in development, support, and problem analysis.
Drive data model design, and ETL processes for the enterprise Data Warehouse.
Build semantic layer using MicroStrategy/Power BI developer/architect tool and define entity relationship model for data modeling.
Reporting: Creates reports and visualizations that communicate data insights in a clear and actionable way.
Develops and documents processes, methodologies, and best practices for data analysis and reporting Business Analysis: Collaborates with business stakeholders to identify business needs and requirements.
Ability to translate business needs into data analysis projects.
Designs, develops dashboards, scorecards, and reports to support business decision-making.
Responsible for BI tools and user set up for BI tools such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau Data Modeling: Designs and implements data models that organize and structure data for efficient analysis.
Understand the existing datasets, collect and connect the data while maintaining data accuracy and consistency.
Support data security, govern and regulate compliance when required.
Additional Responsibilities: Maintains up to date with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in data analytics and business intelligence.
Train and support end-users on data analysis tools and techniques COMPETENCIES Data modeling Analytical/problem solving skill End User Testing Data Governance Communication Skills Collaborating with Other departments WORK EXPERIENCE: Three plus (3) years of experience in SQL developement, Python, R, and other programming languages used for data analysis experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
Experience working with large datasets and data warehousing solutions.
Experience in Oracle EBS modules is preferable.
Experience in PL/SQL, T-SQL, Advance Microsoft Excel/modeling skills is required.
Results-driven with strong attention to the details; outstanding problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in driving customer discussions independently and acting as trusted advisor.
Working collaboratively.
ACADEMIC/TRAINING: A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from an accredited college.
Additional certifications a plus.
Understanding of an experience in the distribution industry is a plus.
SKILLS: Must be proficient in PLSQL, T-SQL, Excel.
Must be proficient in Cloud platform architecture, Cloud based storage solutions, Cloud data warehousing solutions, Cloud based data processing, Cloud Security and Cloud Analytics Develop business intelligence solutions using SSMS.
Perform ongoing database maintenance functions including data loads and data cleansing.
Create and modify indexes, views and stored procedures.
Provides technical and functional support to end-users.
Perform requirements analysis and document detailed specifications.
Should be willing to embrace multi-tasking and meeting deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand, sit, move, and use fingers for extended periods of time.
May require walking primarily on a level surface, reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist, as well as lifting up to 25 pounds.
