Duties As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-11 some of your typical work assignments may include: - Ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of complex Radio and Television Broadcast and Information Technology systems, networks and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information security programs, policies, procedures and tools.
- Provides management advisory services and guidance on complex IT security issues, providing suggestions on how best to resolve issues and interpret guidance consistent with the established DoD position.
- Performs in-depth analyses of system development plans to ensure that security requirements and specifications are effectively implemented and security features are sufficiently rigorous to provide adequate levels of protection the systems life cycle.
- Implements network security guidelines, conducts periodic reviews for compliance.
- Evaluates new security authentication technologies such as public key infrastructure certificates, secure cards, and biometrics, recommends the purchase of application software, and monitors implementation.

Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-11, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Implements IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems.
Participates in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate system security policies.
Test and optimize the functionality of systems, networks, and data to ensure the effectiveness of network operations and protocols in troubleshooting and isolating security threats.
Knowledge of broadcast IT systems and how to maintain broadcast operations.
Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) fundamentals and associated reporting tools such as eMass.

Education: Ph.
D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work or the position.

You have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and you have more than one year but less than two years of education as described in B.
You have computed the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100%.
(To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
